The Périgrord Noir, the Vézère valley

The Vézère valley is famous for its numerous UNESCO world heritage prehistoric sites. We can find the Lascaux grotto as well as sites such as Font de Gaume and Cap Blanc. The town of Eyzies has the justified title of world capital of prehistory containing a number of important sites as well as the museum and prehistory centre. Less touristy than the Dordogne valley, the Vézère valley offers calm and tranquillity. It is ideal for family excursions, walks and sports activities (mountain biking) Aside from the prehistory, the Vézère valley, as with the whole of the Périgord Noir, is an exceptional area of natural beauty and has very well preserved heritage sites.
